or JPirrone@psc.gov. The Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health
Services Administration, Office of the Center for Substance Abuse
Treatment, through the Program Support Center, General Acquisitions
Branch, plans to award a 8 month sole source Simplified Acquisition to
the Hawaii-Pacific Island Research Group. The anticipated date of
award is September 22, 2000. The Contractor shall be responsible for,
but not limited to the following: The Contractor shall be responsible
for organizing multiple panels and presentations concerning various
substance abuse and related social issues as currently experienced
among residents of the U.S. Associated Pacific Islands. The Contractor
shall also be responsible for the panelists/presenters travel, hotel
and related expenses. The Contractor shall subsequently develop
proceedings incorporating presented papers and other materials at the
conference. The Contractor shall contact the Government Project Officer
(GPO) by telephone and FAX, within 20 days of the effective date of the
contract (EDOC) to discuss and obtain approval for the panel topics and
panel members. The Contractor shall make arrangements for the travel of
treatment panelists to the conference, pay fo air fare, hotel, per-diem
and miscellaneous expenses and provide a progress report prior to the
conference. The Contractor shall conduct a three-day conference with
speakers and presenters from a variety of Pacific Island jurisdictions
that will be convened in May 2001. The Contractor shall prepare 300
copies of the conference proceedings and distribute copies to
participants and co-sponsoring organizations, including CSAT. THE
PROPOSED SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION IS FOR SERVICES FOR WHICH THE
GOVERNMENT INTENDS TO SOLICIT AND NEGOTIATE WITH ONLY ONE SOURCE UNDER
AUTHORITY OF FAR 6.302. INTERESTED PERSONS MAY IDENTIFY THEIR INTEREST
BY RESPONDING TO THE REQUIREMENT WITHIN 10 DAYS AFTER THE DATE OF
PUBLICATION OF THIS NOTICE. A DETERMINATION BY THE GOVERNMENT NOT TO
COMPETE THIS PROPOSED SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION BASED UPON RESPONSES TO
THIS NOTICE IS SOLELY WITHIN THE DISCRETION OF THE GOVERNMENT.
