13 -- LOW LEVEL RADIOACTIVE WASTE DISPOSAL POC Contract Specialist: Bob Matthys, AMSOS-CCE PART: U.S. GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENTS SUBPART: SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT AND MATERIAL The U.S. Army Operations Support Command (PROV) seeks qualified contractors who have treatment/disposal capabilities for Low-Level Radioactive Waste (LLRW), naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM), exempt waste, low-activity waste, mixed waste meeting applicable treatment standards for disposal and mixed waste that will require treatment at the contractor's facility. Any of which may contain varying amounts of debris. Contractor must have a licensed/permitted treatment facility and have access to a licensed disposal facility. The Operations Support Command (PROV) may ship material to contractor's facility where the contractor may be required to inspect, accept, process, treat, volume reduce, package/repackage, if applicable. Material shall be shipped to the contractor(s) in metal containers (typically 55-gallon drums and/or 100 ft3 B25 boxes), in approved disposable bags, in lined or unlined trucks and in lined or unlined rail cars. The contractor must accept waste streams with as little as 1 cubic foot. If disposal is required, the contractor will ship to a licensed disposal site IAW Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Department of Transportation and burial site laws and regulations for transportation CONUS/OCONUS. Contractor shall also ship material to appropriate disposal site IAW Compact Laws. Contractor will prepare all necessary shipping papers. Contractor must provide: 1)copy of license(s)/permit(s), 2) associated Waste Acceptance Criteria, 3)synopsis of capabilities, 4)history of past performance, (5) license/permit violations in the last five years and resolutions.
