COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 10,2000 PSA#2661 Director, USAMRAA, 820 Chandler St, Fort Detrick, MD 21702-5014 A -- DEVELOPMENT OF A RICIN VACCINE CANDIDATE DUE 091100 POC Lynn
Selfridge, Contracting Officer, (301) 619-2707; Mr. Richard Paul, JVAP
PMO, (301) 619-7083 E-MAIL: Sources Sought for a Ricin Vaccine
Candidate, Lynn.Selfridge@det.amedd.army.mil;
Richard.Paul@det.amedd.army.mil. The Joint Vaccine Acquisition Program
(JVAP) is seeking to identify information about candidates for a
vaccine to protect against ricin (e.g., toxoid, deglycosylated,
recombinant). The goal of the JVAP is to develop, license, and acquire
an initial stockpile of vaccines to protect the U.S. Forces against
biological warfare agents. Information about candidate ricin vaccines
should include an outline of initial research and development of the
product with any data supporting protective efficacy. A process for
manufacture of the proposed ricin vaccine amenable to good
manufacturing practices regulations is desirable. The developer must be
willing to work with the JVAP's prime system contractor for continued
process development, production, and FDA licensure of the ricin
vaccine. Interested parties need to reply in writing to the address
included in this sysnopsis. An acceptable response must include
information regarding the research and development effort undertaken to
this point, animal efficacy experiments, and any process development
efforts. This sysnopsis is not a request for proposal; this is a notice
to determine the level of interest and the capabilities available to
meet the requirement of developing a ricin vaccine. Posted 08/08/00
