Logistics Command intends to negotiate with Gerber/Coburn Optical, Inc.
P.O. Box 627, Muskogee, OK 74402-0627 for a lens and lap tool generator
capable of interfacing to other Gerber/Coburn equipment togenerator
plastic lenses for spectacles and gas mask inserts. Responses
questioning the sole source nature of this requirement must contain
sufficient documentation to establish a bonafide capability to fulfill
the requirements. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation
document; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation
will not be issued. The solicitation number is N62645-00-T- 0016 and is
issued as a request for quotation. FAR clause 52.213-4, Terms and
Conditions Simplified Acquisition (Other Than Commercial Items, June
1999, applies to this purchase. Under this clause, the website for FAR
52.252-2 is http://farsite.hill.af.mil. Other applicable clauses are
FAR 252.246-7000, Material Inspection and Receiving Report, Dec 1991;

Central Contractor Registration, Mar 2000. The Navy is committed to a
paperless acquisition process. Delivery will be requested 30 days after
award and will be FOB Destination to Naval Ophthalmic and Training
Support Activity, Yorktown, VA. The system shall consist consist of the
lens generator, and the accessories necessary for the installation and
operation of the generator, to include : 1 each IQ SL2 Lens Generator
(part # 44430-00), 1 each Vacuum System P-35 for SL2 system (part #
10925-00). The generator shall be capable of surfacing current
commercial optical materials, including CR49, High Index, Polycarbonate
plastics, to produce lenses for spectacles and inserts for gas masks.
The generator shall be capable of producing plastic lap tools for
Gerber/Coburn optical equipment. The unit shall include all equipment
and accessories to install and operate the lens generators for both
lens production and forlap tool production. The unit shall be capable
of generating lens from a strength of -20 diopter to +7 diopter, in
polycarbonate, CR39, High Index plastics . The unit shall be capable of
generating lap tools from aluminum and plastic, with strengths from 0
through +17 diopters. The unit shall be capable of sustained volume
production, without extensive maintenance and overhaul. The unit shall
be capable of using the current inventory of lap tools generated for
Gerber Coburn IQ lens generators. The unit shall be quiet, suitable for
use in an educational environment. Quotations may be submitted by mail,
