9. The Marine Corps Systems Command Contracts Directorate is seeking
sources/requesting information on ruggedized and semi-ruggedized
commercial VME functional computer systems for use in the military air,
sea, ground mobile, and wheeled/tracked vehicle field environments. The
Marine Corps intends to conduct market research and environmental
testing on the ruggedized VME functional computer systems using
tailored MIL STD-810F to seek solutions for the field environment. The
functional computer systems will consist of one or more standard
functional computer systems in a single enclosure. A standard
functional computer system will consist of a CPU module and associated
hard disk, floppy disk, CD-ROM, and tape drive modules, which may be
backplane or enclosure mounted. Desired physical characteristics of the
systems include: 6U or 3U rugged (level 1 or level 2)/commercial 2-21
slot industry standard rack mountable 19" and/or ARINC 404A standard
VMEbus enclosure employing forced air, conduction, or vaporization
cooling, with optional redundant 300W-1000W, 100-240 VAC 50-60Hz or
12-28VDC power supplies; CISC (Intel) single board computer module with
minimum single or dual 600MHz or higher Intel Pentium III CPU, minimum
512 MB memory, IDE, SCSI, 10/100 TX Ethernet LAN, RS-232, USB, EPP/ECP
parallel, mouse and keyboard ports, and minimum 8 MB 64-bit 800x600 64K
color graphics, Microsoft NT 4.0/Win 2000 or higher operating system
compatible; RISC (SUN) single board computer module with minimum single
or dual Ultra SPARC II 440 MHz or higher CPU, minimum 512 MB memory,
SCSI, 10/100 TX Ethernet LAN, RS-232, USB, EPP/ECP parallel, mouse and
keyboard ports, and minimum 8 MB 64-bit 800x600 64K color graphics,
Sun Solaris 2.x/8.x or higher operating system compatible; either
single board computer system may also include separate or removable
PCMCIA card types I/II/III or PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) IEEE 1386.1,
minimum 18.2 GB IDE/SCSI hard drive, 3.5" 1.44MB IDE/SCSI floppy drive,
644MB 32X IDE/SCSI CD-ROM, 12-24GB DDS-34mm SCSI Tape drive, 16-bit
audio, RS-422, RS-423, RS-485 and Firewire (IEEE-1394). Logistics
requirements include system integrator, 3-year worldwide warranty,
fielding and post-fielding support. All Hardware and Logistics
requirements must be on GSA schedule. Specific questions regarding the
systems integration approach proposed for various operational
configuration and warranty requirements may be found on the Internet at
www.marcorsycom.usmc.mil/mcscctq and will be used to judge the
responder's understanding and capability to provide viable solutions to
Marine Corps requirements. No phone calls or faxed documents shall be
accepted. Posted 08/09/00 (W-SN484200). (0222) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0041 20000811\D-0018.SOL)
