M -- POTENTIAL SOURCES SOUGHT POC Paul Haertel, Superintendent, (207) 288-0374 The National Park Service intends to solicit proposals for the award of two concession contracts authorizing continued facilities and services for the public at Acadia National Park, Maine, as follows: (1) Operation of food service and retail sales at the Jordan Pond House. Limited merchandising facilities are also provided at Cadillac Mountain and Thunder Hole Information Centers. The term of this contract will be ten years. The existing concessioner is The Acadia Corporation. The existing concessioner does not have a preferential right to renewal of their contract. (2) Operation of carriage ride services, horse camp facility, day use parking, services for visiting equestrians, and related services. (The actual required services may differ in the new contract pending the determination of the Superintendent.) The term of this contract will be five years. The existing concessioner is Edward Winterberg. The existing concessioner does not have a preferential right to renewal of his contract. Potential offerors are invited to visit the facilities during the current operating season, prior to October 15, 2000. Interested parties should contact the point of contact in advance to make arrangements. This is not a request for proposals and no prospectus is being issued at this time. It is anticipated the prospectuses will be published this fall and the concession contracts will be effective Spring, 2001.
