The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission is seeking a contractor to provide technical assistance for both individual and collective dose assessments and specified cost impacts of alternatives for the clearance of materials and equipment. Soils are specifically excluded from analysis as a material for clearance under this work. The scope of work is categorized into three general, but inter-related concepts: Part I., INVENTORY -- both of the kinds and amounts of materials (e.g., metals, concrete, plastic, glass, roofing materials, wood, sediments, etc) and equipment or furniture that can be potentially released from licensed control, and the kinds and amounts of radioactivity associated with the potentially released materials, and, in addition, the potential for build-up of radioactivity in materials. Part 2., DOSE ASSESSMENT -- Collective doses for 79 scenarios already analyzed, individual and collective doses for new scenarios, and multiple sources. Part 3, COST -- The characterization of the inventory is a direct input for estimating the associated costs of sorting and decontaminating material, disposal, transportation, value of release or reuse, etc. The SIC code is 7374. Proposals for this requirement may be submitted by all concerns, i.e., large businesses, small businesses, and small businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. The request for proposal (RFP) will be issued approximately August 2, 2000, with proposals due to NRC by 3:00 p.m. on September 1, 2000. The RFP can be found on the Internet on or about the RFP issue date at Http://www.nrc.gov/ADM/CONTRACT/solcon.html . Interested firms should submit written requests to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission at the address as shown above. Telephone requests will not be honored.***** mmmm Posted 08/10/00 (D-SN484453).
