The work to be performed involves construction of a 14,000 square foot classroom building and associated sitework, replacement of windows in the existing Cafeteria Building, and construction of two emergency roads, each approximately 100 feet in length. The classroom building is single story, slab on grade, CMU walls, with steel truss roof framing. Sitework will include a 800 foot extension of sanitary sewer line and placement of controlled fill material for building slab, in addition to other typical requirements as shown on the drawings. The window replacements for the Cafeteria Building are large pane frame and glazing substitutions at the Kittrell Job Corps Center located in Kittrell (Vance County), North Carolina. The estimated period of performance for construction is scheduled for 365 calendar days from receipt of notice to proceed through completion of the project. The estimated cost range is between $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Plans and specifications will be available on August 29, 2000, only from the firm of Smith Sinnett Associates, Inc., 4601 Lake Boone Trail, Raleigh, North Carolina 27607. It is emphasized that requests for plans and specifications should be directed t othe A/E firm listed above to ensure proper handling of requests. Request will be limited to the issuance of one complete set per request from any interested party. Plans and specifications will be made available for pick-up at the A/E's office, or may be arranged for delivery at an additional charge. Any additional shipping and/or handling charges must be pre-paid and COD request will not be accepted. All requests must be in writing and will be answered on a first-come, first-serve basis until supplies are exhausted. For requests made after the supply is exhausted, the Contracting Officer may determine whether a non-refundable fee, not to exceed the actual cost of reproduction of the IFB documents, plus a shipping charge will be required in order to obtain the IFB document. A Pre-Bid walk-through is scheduled for September 14, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. local time at the Center. This will be the only opportunity to review the job site prior to submission of bids. The Bid Opening date is scheduled for October 3, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. local time at the A/E's office. This is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside acquisition.
