93 -- CARBON FOAMS SOL N00167-00-Q-0589 DUE 082600 POC Ray Park,Contracting Officer, 301-227-1121, FAX 301-227-1847 The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with Destech Corp. for mesophase-phenolic hybrid carbon foams. Destech will supply hybrid carbon foam materials produced from a hybrid precursor which nominally consists of 50% phenolic resin and 50% mesophase pitch. Destech will supply 12 different variants of hybrid carbon foam material. One billet will be supplied for each of the variants, each billet will be of cylindrical geometry and will measure 8" in diameter by 8" in height. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements under the authority of FAR 6.302.1. Anticipated award is on or about 9/1/00.
