Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) is a nuclear physics research laboratory built and operated by the Southeastern Universities Research Association (SURA) for the United States Department of Energy (DOE). Jefferson Lab is seeking QUALIFIED small business suppliers for presolicitation review for the fabrication of titanium helium pressure vessels in accordance with the ASME BOILER AND PRESSURE VESSEL CODE SECTION VIII for use in the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) medium and high beta cryomodules. The ASME pressure vessels will house medium and high beta cavities in a liquid helium bath at a temperature below -450 degrees Fahrenheit. The operating temperature makes the cavity superconducting which facilitates the acceleration of the high-energy proton beam. An ASME certificate of authorization is not required, however the supplier must be able to provide all materials, personnel (labor), engineering and management, necessary to fabricate approximately 100 titanium helium pressure vessels in accordance with the ASME code and within the Jefferson Lab specified timeframe. Interested suppliers must provide a complete qualification summary for consideration; which should include past performance history with description of previous contracts for similar work, and references with telephone numbers. Only those suppliers determined by Jefferson Lab to be qualified will receive any future solicitation. In addition, any future solicitation shall be set-aside for small business concerns and will be sent electronically via email.
