COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 15,2000 PSA#2664 HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE TECHNOLOGY EXPO Hanscom Air Force Base is
hosting a Technology Expo that will take place on Thursday, October 12,
2000. This expo will be advertised to all Base personnel including:
3,200 Air Force civilian employees, 7,500 contractors, and 2,500
military personnel. Groups on Base include: Rome Laboratory, The Mitre
Corporation, 66th Air Base Wing, and Phillips Laboratory, Electronic
Systems Center, ESC, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Air Force Research Lab,
Sensors Directorate, Defense Technical Information Center, Defense
Metropolitan Area Telephone System. Requested technologies for this
event include, but are not limited to: Notebooks/Laptops, LANs,
Workstations, Modems, Token Ring, Client/Server Connections, Color and
Laser Printers and Monitors, Hard Disk Drives, Storage Devices, Tape
Backup Systems, Scanners, Video Display Terminals, Token Ring,
Client/Server Connections, Color and Laser Printers, Monitors, Memory
and Graphic Boards, Internet Access, E-mail, Database Management,
Spreadsheets, Word Processing, Project Management, CAD/CAE/CAM,
Multimedia, Network Security, Ergonomic Furniture, and Video
Teleconferencing. Officers outnumber enlisted members, and there are
many Lieutenant Colonels as Technical Sergeants on base. Nearly half of
the civilian employees are in professional grades. Many of them serve
as program managers or hold senior staff positions. Air Force Materiel
Command's Electronic Systems Center is Hanscom's host organization
with an annual budget of over $3 billion, ESC is the Air Force's leader
