On or about 24 August 2000, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of EROSION CONTROL, BIG SIOUX RIVER, SIOUX CITY, IA. Bids will be opened on or about 25 September 2000. This solicitation is restricted to small business participation. A site visit has been established for 14 September at 1:00 p.m. Contractors interested in see the site of the proposed work shall meet in the vacant lot at the North end of the project site. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) This project is designed to correct a design deficiency in the original flood control project that was completed approximately twenty (20) years ago along the Big Sioux River, Sioux City, Iowa. The work consists of bank stabilization with clearing and (limited) grubbing, grading, placement of 2900 tons of rip-rap along a 550 ft. reach of the Big Sioux River and the construction of a 100 ft. stone kicker dike (500 tons of stone). The project is located near the intersection of Military and River Drive in North Sioux City, Iowa. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $100,000 and $250,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 60 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
