Synopsis Sealed bids from all business concerns will be accepted for
District of Columbia Department of Public Works Project DC
STP-9999(983) in Washington, D.C. The project consists of roadway
resurfacing; sidewalk work; utility and lighting reconstruction; and
drainage work on the following D.C. streets: MacArthur Blvd., NW from
Arizona Avenue to Loughboro Road; Nebraska Avenue, NW from Macomb
Street to Newark Street; Rockwood Parkway, NW from Glenbrook Road (W)
to Dalecarlia Pkwy; Woodley Road, NW from 34th Street to Wisconsin
Avenue; Linnean Avenue, NW from Brandywine Street to Chesapeake Street;
Linnean Avenue, NW from Harrison Street to 32nd Street; Porter Street,
NW from 34th Street to Wisconsin Avenue; Military Road, NW from Nevada
Avenue to Reno Road; and Cathedral Avenue, NW from Woodley Road to
Woodley Place. The project is expected to fall within the price range
of $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. Bid documents are scheduled to be issued
on or about September 15, 2000. Bids will be due on or about October

applies to Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business
Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and
Disadvantaged Business Utilization has bonding programs to assist
minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises in
acquiring short-term capital and bonding assistance for
transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates up to
$500,000 to provide accounts receivable financing. The DOT Bonding
Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and
payment bonds up to $1,000,000 per contract. DOT provides an 80 percent
guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. For further
