254 As part of its Market Research, the Marine Corps is seeking
information on Commercial/Non-Developmental cordless nail guns that can
be used to rapidly and securely nail standard doors and windows closed.
The Marine Corps has a mission to move into urban areas and force
belligerent personnel to vacate the area and to temporarily deny their
reentry into buildings and facilities. The Marine Corps is seeking
available NDI solutions from industry that can be hand-carried and used
by a rapidly moving security force to deny access to a specific
buildings. The equipment shall be fully capable of being stored and
operated in hot, basic, and cold temperatures and rugged enough to
withstand being externally carried by Marines during the rigors of
performing individual movement techniques or moving through an urban
environment in combat/threatening conditions. It is requested that
interested parties provide the following at no cost to the Government:
Material Safety Data Sheets; sales marketing literature applicable to
the system; limitations of the system (if applicable); and a Rough
Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost per system. The Government may, in the
future, procure one system from each respondent through local
commercial sources for a limited test at a non-Government facility. The
government is testing these systems to determine the reliability,
availability, and maintainability (RAM) of the system and to assess the
human factors aspects of carrying the system in a fast moving military
scenario. Results of government testing data will be made available to
each respondent upon request, with regards to their product. Responses
should be submitted no later than 14 September 2000. This solicitation
for information should not be construed as a commitment to procure the
system and the Marine Corps does not intend to pay for any product
samples or information received as a result of this announcement.
However, information obtained may be used for subsequent requests for
proposals to procure additional systems for more detailed
validation/verification tests. Any data that is of a proprietary nature
should be marked as such. Technical questions should be submitted in
