12 -- COMMON REMOTELY OPERATED WEAPON STATION (CROWS) SOL DAAE30-00-R-0407 DUE 090100 POC JANICE FINKELSTEIN, CONTRACT SPECIALIST, (973)724-7510 WEB: US ARMY TACOM-ARDEC Procurement Network, http://procnet.pica.army.mil/cbd/RFP/00R0407/00R04072.htm. E-MAIL: JANICE FINKELSTEIN, jfinkel@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, Office of Product Manager for Small Arms (OPMSA), located at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is hereby amending the original CBD notice published on or about 25 April 2000, for the Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS), as follows: The OPMSA has a requirement for the fabrication of one (1) mature Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS). The CROWS is a lightweight, remote weapon station capable of individually mounting the MK19 grenade machine gun (GMG) and the M2 HB machine gun (MG) with growth potential to accommodate the M240B machine gun (MG) and M249 squad automatic weapon (SAW). The system is mounted on the host vehicle with the target acquisition and engagement control capability inside the vehicle. The CROWS will include: the weapon mount, an electronics support unit, a remote control unit, fire control processor, sensors, and associated hardware. The intent of the OPMSA program is for CROWS to be integrated into various turreted/non-turreted and ring mount equipped vehicles and will provide a modern automated weapon system that enhances system lethality, increases battle space awareness, and provides digital integration opportunities. The CROWS will provide protection for the gunner and enhanced target acquisition, identification, and engagement capabilities to non-turreted light armored vehicles which currently placed the unprotected gunner at high risk from enemy direct and indirect fire weapon systems. This acquisition will be nine months and consist of developing one (1) system that will be delivered to the Government for future integration and test on teh Armored Security Vehicle (ASV). There will be two options: one to develop, deliver and integrate an additional system for the UA HMMWV, the second for an additional four (4) CROWS developmental units. This acquisition requires access to classified material controlled under the American, British, Canadian and Australian (ABCA) Armies' Standardization Program. Only industries from ABCA countries have been determined to be eligible to participate at this time. Offerors must possess a SECRET facility clearance, subject to verification. The present schedule projects electronic release of a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) on or about 1 September 2000. Proposals shall be required within thirty (30) days after release of the RFP. All responses to this notice shall be done so in writing in the English language. No telephone requests shall be honored. See numbered Note 26. Posted 08/16/00 (D-SN486911). (0229)
