COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 18,2000 PSA#2667 U.S. Department of Agriculture, ARS-NCAUR, 1815 North University
Street, Peoria, IL 61604 70 -- COMMERCIAL ITEM PACKAGED SOFTWARE PROGRAM FOR THE CHEMICAL AND
PHYSICAL STORES FOR TRACKING OF CHEMICALS, ORDERING AND INVENTORY AND
BAR CODING SOL 40-51LA-0-0046 DUE 090100 POC Rebecca A. Holzinger,
Contracting Officer, (309)681-6481 This amendment is issued to provide
additional information and clarification. The operating system running
Network where software will be installed is Novell 4.11 or greater. The
following are correlated to the numbered mandatory capabilities from
the initial Synopsis dated July 19, 2000. 1) The software must work
with existing scanners (Telxon = PTC-912), bar codes and bar code
printer (Zebra Model) manufactured by Zebra Technologies Corporation.
The printer is not a laser printer. 2) Audit trail of system is for
security which creates a running record of all transactions. It allows
you to track a piece of data from the moment it enters the system to
the moment it leaves and to determine the origin of any changes to that
data. 3) Software must meet minimum requirements of needs and gives us
the ability to add fields if needed. When adding fields or modifying
the administrator should have the ability to make changes as needed.
The historical transactions per day are 130, inventory items are 10,000
bar coded, 880 non-bar coded. Software needs to have the ability to add
2,500 per year. The maximum expected inventory items are 100,000. 4)
The CAS number is a universal tracking number for transferring and
disposing of chemicals. 7) Real time updates means multiple users
accessing the database at the same time and all changes being kept.
Change to the database as it happens rather than batch mode updates.
Multiple platforms and multiple network allows users to access the
database at the same time (Windows, MAC, NT, Unix/Linex) and having the
ability to use it. 8) The software must run on Windows 95/98/NT for
users and Novell 4.11 or greater for Network. Must be either a Windows
Network Version, Unix network version or Novell network version of the
software. 9) The database is on the network server, therefore, it is
backed up onto tape when the network is backed up. 11) If system has a
problem and cannot be fixed with phone support, onsite support would
be needed to resolve. The network peripherals using the proposed
software -- 1gb RAM, 6-36 g hard drive, Raid 5. The end users system
configuration Windows 95/98, Pentiums 1-2, 32 to 96 mb. We will be
using NCR assigned numbers with our items storeroom items. The sq.
footage of Chemical storeroom is 35 x 30 and the physical storeroom is
42 x 48. The stores have established bin locations. The
shelved/locations are not now bar coded, but need to be. The number of
users are under 20 and of these (6) will need access to the software
at all times. Proposals should include 10 days of on-site training and
set-up. The POC for this acquisition is Rebecca A. Holzinger,
