Background "This requirement is for 8 Lens Coupled Image Intensifiers and Power Supplies specially modified or designed for the AEDC Pressure Sensitive Paint System. This contract will be awarded as an IDIQ with purchases up to 30 September 2003. GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS: The gated image intensifier system shall work with existing Princeton Instruments cooled CCD cameras. The intensifier shall be gated off during CCD readout to prevent image smear. The intensifier shall be lens coupled and constructed so that the camera may be converted to and from the intensified configuration with minimal effort and so that normal (unintensified) operation of the camera is not compromised. IMAGE INTENSIFIER AND POWER SUPPLY: The image intensifier shall be a 25 mm active diameter unit with at least 30% QE from 550 nm to 850 nm. Image intensifier shall provide a minimum of 17 % QE at 500 nm. The image intensifier shall be gatable, with the minimum gate width of 50 ns FWHM or less. Gate width and delay shall be digitally adjustable from minimum values up to 1 second each. The intensifier and the intensifier power supply shall be operable without damage in reduced pressure environments, to as Iow as 2 psia. For this operation, air feed to the intensifier assembly and the power supply assembly, to maintain intemal pressures within the respective units of ~ 5 psig will be available at the installation site. Image intensifier gain shall be user adjustable, with a digital scale for resetting purposes. The gating shall be capable of operating at up to 5 kHz repetition rate, regardless of the gate width (up to 180 microseconds combined width and delay). LENS COUPLER: The overall length of the intensifier housing and coupling lens assembly shall not exceed 6 inches measured from the camera mounting surface. The lens throughput shall be equivalent to a/f/2.2 lossless lens. The magnification shall be 1:1 +/- 0.5%. Distortion shall not exceed 1% anywhere in the output plane. Lens input and output planes shall be 25 mm diameter. Light throughput at the edges of the focal plane shall not be less than 70% of the throughput at the center. Lens MTF shall be at least 40% at 20 Ip/mm throughout the focal plane. The lens coupler shall bolt to or otherwise simply mount to the existing cameras. Roper Scientific is considered to be the only known manufacturer of the above requirements. Authority 10 U.S.C. (C)(1).
