COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 22,2000 PSA#2669 10 -- AIR ARMAMENT SUMMIT 2001 Subject: Air Armament Summit 2001
Strategy Panels Description: The Air Armament Center at Eglin AFB FL
will be hosting the third Air Armament Summit on 14-16 March 2001. The
2001 Summit will review and assess long range strategic plans for air
armament to include armament science and technologies, infrastructure
and support, and global threats and military strategy. The Summit will
also consider innovative means for "accelerated acquisition" to
expedite delivery of promising technologies to the warfighter. Although
attendance at the Summit itself must be limited, an effort is being
made to expand industry participation through involvement in the
Summit's strategy planning panels. This announcement invites such
participation. The initial strategy panel kick-off meeting will start
on 12 Sept 2000. US companies that can make contributions to an air
armament strategic plan through 2025 or those who are actively
conducting research and development on air armament technologies are
invited to participate on the following strategy planning
panels/subpanels: Science & Technology, Accelerated Acquisition,
Unmanned Air Vehicle Weaponization, and International Cooperative
Strategy. We will also have an Industry Strategy Panel made up of US
industry members only. Materiel to be presented at the Summit will be
developed by strategy panels composed of senior industry participants
and key personnel from throughout the Air Force, Navy and Army. Because
of the potential number of industry volunteers, the National Defense
Industrial Association will be coordinating industry participation.
Industry will be limited to two participants per company/panel. For
those companies that choose not to participate or are not selected to
participate in a particular panel/subpanel, the information will be
posted on: http://www.eglin.af.mil/Summit. Access will be password
protected and will be granted to US Contractors only with a valid
Secret clearance. This announcement is for planning purposes only and
does not constitute an invitation for contracting of any nature.
Participation in the proposed Summit panels is voluntary and does not
create any obligation on the USG. Prospective attendees are requested
to submit names, position title, addresses (phones, e-mails and fax),
and a summary of the company area(s) of expertise and preferred
participation to Robert Blake, Secretary, NDIA, NLT 6 Sept 2000, Phone:
