NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE CONTRACT FOR A GOVERNMENT-OWNED DX PRIME X-RAY ANALYZER LOCATED IN BUILDING 1205, NASA LANGLEY RESEARCH CENTER. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE FOR THIS SERVICE SHALL BE FOR A PERIOD NOT LESS THAN ONE YEAR WITH OPTIONS TO EXTEND THE PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE FOR FOUR (4) ADDITIONAL ONE-YEAR PERIOD. CONTRACT INCLUDES TWO ROUTINE PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE INSPECTIONS PER 12-MONTH PERIOD AND UNLIMITED EMERGENCY VISITS. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from EDAX, INC, 91 MCKEE DRIVE, MAHWAH, NJ. SUPPLIES AND SERVICES AVAILABLE ONLY AVAILABLE THROUGH ONE SOURCE AND BEING PROPRIETARY TO EDAX; NO OTHER FIRM CAN PROVIDE THIS MAINTENANCE. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on AUGUST 31, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
