On or about 08 September 2000, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of Sioux Falls Flood Control, Phase 1A, Sioux Falls, SD. Bids will be opened on or about 10 October 2000. This solicitation is restricted to small business participation. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) This contract includes modifications to the existing reinforced concrete chute and stilling basin structures and associated subdrain system. The existing chute structure is 847 feet long with a drop of 118.5 feet from the crest to the basin. Modifications to the structure includes excavation of backfill, drilling and grouting reinforcing into existing structures, and increasing reinforced concrete wall height and footing width. Counterforts are being added to the walls. Height of wall raise varies up to ten feet. Modifications to the drainage system include replacing and raising manholes, installing drain lines, and replacing a concrete surface drain. Other work required during construction are increasing the backfill on the chute walls, dewatering, and diversion of water. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $2,500,000 and $5,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 540 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
