The Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport has a requirement for 2000 (each) Crossover Batteries Part Number 6300534. The Crossover Battery must meet the requirements of product specification 6300534. The Crossover Battery is used in MK 48 Torpedoes MODS 5 and 6 is an energy source that shall produce an output voltage in the range of 225 Vdc to 300 Vdc while operating under a constant 875 watt load for a continuous 11 -- second interval, starting at 775 milliseconds after initiation prior torpedo crossover to alternator power. The battery is expended during each torpedo run and must be replaced for each exercise/training firing. In addition to the power requirements, the battery must be extremely tolerant of high pressures and temperatures. The source of this acquisition is Eagle Picher Technologies, LLC, Joplin, Missouri (EPT) as the only qualified source that meets the requirements of specification 6300534. The Government intends to award a sole source, firm fixed price supply contract toEPT using the procedures per FAR Part 12 & 13. A solicitation will be issued 30 Aug 00. Anticipated award date is 15 Sep 00. Delivery will be F.O.B. destination, Newport, RI approximately 01 MAy 2001. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the government. Telephone requests will not be honored. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed acquisition based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
