NASA/GRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for aerospace prismatic lithium-ion cells at 30 and 35 ampere hour capacity, quantity of 30 each. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from Yardney Technical Products, Pawcatuck, CT and Eagle Picher Technolgies, Joplin, MO. under a sole source authority. NASA is obtaining these cells in order to perform performance testing to ascertain characteristics and their applicability to future NASA missions. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to provide Lithium-ion cells in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on September 10, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining alternate sources of supply. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on afull and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
