The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, proposes to issue a sole source contract to General Electric Company, Duluth, GA, for the purchase of four (4) each Main Hoist Brake Systems (DC shunt brake sized for 10" wheel, rated 60 minutes @200 ft lbs, 250FDC, no wheel included, open type enclosure, non-corrosive hardware); and four (4) Trolley Brake Systems (AC shunt brake sized for 5.75" wheel, rated continuous @ 50 ft lbs, 60 minutes @75 ft lbs, no wheel included, open type enclosure, non corrosive hardware). These brakes must be purchased from GE in order to be compatible with equipment already installed on the cranes. These items are the only brakes commercially available that meet or exceed the Government's minimum requirements. The procurement of these brake systems is critical to the Vicksburg District's river dredging program. A firm fixed-price contract will be awarded utilizing the Simplified Acquisition Procedures for Commercial Services. Any other responsible source able to provide the supplies referenced above is encouraged to respond to this announcement within 15 days after its publication.
