Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks interested parties
to commercialize an intellectual property portfolio of inventions
pertaining to applications and methods for its millimeter wave
holographic imaging technology. PNNL researchers have developed
technology that can identify metal, plastic and ceramic weapons
concealed under clothing. It emits millimeter waves that penetrate
clothing, but bounce off the body and other objects. These reflected
waves are quickly picked up by a transceiver, digitized and sent to a
computer. Patented 3-D holographic image-processing techniques form
high-resolution radar images of the person under surveillance along
with any associated body-worn concealed object. Privacy algorithms
based on neural networks and other image processing techniques are then
used to locate and segment the concealed objects and place any detected
object on a gender-neutral wire frame mannequin or human silhouette.
Inventions include a 'single panel planar portal' prototype. Posted
