NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for SCRAMNet Long Link Media Cards, SCRAMNet PCI Interface Cards, Expansion SIMMs, SCRAMNet Quad Switches, fiber optic cable, and SCRAMNet PCI driver software. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) under FAR 13.5 (Test Program for Certain Commercial Items). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from Systran Corp, Dayton OH, who obtains unique supplies available from only one source. Systran is the sole provider of SCRAMNet Network products. This requirement must be compatiable with existing SCRAMNet network infrastructure and there is no other company that provides a compatible product. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on September 11, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
