- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Patuxent River, MD intends to release a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a Voice Generating System (VGS) to support the integration of a Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) into various fixed wing aircraft. The VGS shall provide voice warnings in response to commands issued by the GPWS. The VGS shall be a self-contained unit with external dimensions no larger than 15 inches by 8 inches by 6 inches, weigh no more than ten pounds, and operate on 28 VAC. The audio output signal will terminate into a 600-ohm load. The VGS shall be capable of accepting multiple sequential trigger inputs via 1553B interface to relay a minimum of 16 user-supplied digital audio files (.WAV files) equaling no less than 32 seconds total duration. The VGS shall be able to withstand the Navy shipboard environment (including up to 100% relative humidity, exposure to fungus growth, exposure to salt-saturated air, and ambient and operating temperatures from +160 deg F to -54 deg F), and the Naval aircraft flight environment (in particular catapult launch and arrested landings of carrier-based aircraft). Initial delivery for testing is up to three pre-production units on or about March 2001 and up to three production-representative units on or about June 2001. A total of approximately 183 production units over a five year period are anticipated and various technical data may be required. This requirement is being procured as a 100% Small Business Set-aside. The applicable SIC Code is 3679, the NAICS code is 334419 and the small business size standard is 500 employees. The resultant award shall be a firm fixed price contract. The Navy intends to release the solicitation via the Internet on or about 30 September 2000.
