Description
The work consists of identifying suspected Survey and Manage fungus specimens to the species level in lot(s) of up to 100 dried (or in some cases fresh) specimens shipped by the Government to the Contractor(s). Fungi will be collected from northern California through western Oregon and Washington by the Bureau of Land Management and the U. S. Forest Service. Collection and site location information and possibly spore prints will also be provided. Specimens which turn out not to be in a family or genus which includes Survey and Manage species will only be required to be identified at the family or genus level. Those genera that include Survey and Manage species need to be identified to the species level even though they may not be a Survey and Manage species. For example, the genera Ramaria and Phaeocollybia contain both Survey and Manage and non-Survey and Manage species. Specimens in these and other genera which contain Survey and Manage species will need to be identified to species. Five weeks of contract time will be allowed for identifying each lot of up to 100 specimens and completing required supporting documentation. Proposals will be evaluated based on the bidder's knowledge of fungi species associated with coniferous forests within the lands managed the Northwest Forest Plan (western Oregon and Washington and northern California). The contractor(s) and key personnel and subcontractors shall have or be working towards an advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) in mycology or related disciplines with an emphasis on fungi or have commensurate amount of experience in fungi identification of species associated with coniferous forests within the Northwest Forest Plan. Taxonomic knowledge of fungi including difficult genera such as Otidea, Phaeocollybia, Ramaria, and hypogeous fungi will be required. This solicitation includes an option that allows for increased quantities not to exceed twenty percent (20%) of the total contract price. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered. See Number Note(s) 1.
