Description

USDA intends to award a procurement request for a "Microlog 3 Identification System" with Catalog Number: 62401A (or an equivalent), which is manufactured by Biolog, Inc. in Hayward, California; which shall meet the following specifications: Automated system for characterizing and indentifying unknown anaerobic and aerobic bacteria, and yeasts, system based on carbon source untilization tests that are read automatically and recorded in seconds, The identified microbial species is displayed as a characteristic finger print, progressive identification pattern matching algorithm considers the organisms preffered carbon sources, strain relationships are displayed as a graphic output in the form of cluster diagrams-to find relationships among microbial communities and populations, the system is flexible so that pre-defined protocols can be used or specific needs can be developed. The above system uses a "Proprietary Carbon Source Utilization Test Methodology". Each Plate has ninety-five different indentified carbon sources. USDA also intends to purchase a YT Database(for Yeasts) from Biolog, Inc. with Catalog number 22405A (or Equivalent). A copy of the solicitation will be made by WRITTEN REQUEST ONLY. This solicitation incorporates clauses that are in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-18. This acquisition will be solicited on a UNRESTRICTED basis. The Standard Industrial Classification Code is 3829. Delivery is F.O.B. Destination to the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, Maryland. Any interested/qualified sources who can provide the item stated above (or equivalent), must respond by September 18, 2000. All responses will be evaluated in order to determine the capabilites stated in the RFQ. The Government will award a contract resulting from this solicitation to the responsive/responsible offerer whose quote conforms to the solicitation and will be most advantageous to the Government based on price. This procurement will be conducted under Far Part 12, Commercial Items.
