Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a requirement to purchase Scientific Equipment, specifically one (1) 2-D Gel Electrophoresis System, 2-D Spot Cutter, PDQuest software and accessories from Bio-Rad Life Science Group, 2000 Alfred Nobel Drive, Hercules, CA 94547. The specifications shall be included in the following systems: 1) PROTEAN IEF System; 2) PROTEAN II xi Cell, 20cm, 1.5 mm spacers (4) 1.5-well comb (2); 3) PROTEIN II xi Cell IPG Conversion Kit, 1.0 mm, 18.5 x 20 cm; 4) Teflon Comb, 10 Well, 1.0mm; 5) Teflon Comb, 10 Well, 1.5mm; 6) SPACERS, 20CM X 1.0MM, 4; 7) PROTEOMEWORKS SPOT CUTTER; 8) Teflon Comb, 15 Well, 1.0mm; 9) SPACERS, 20CM X 1.0MM, 4; 10) ReadyStrip IPG Strips, 3-10pH, 17cm, 12/pkg.; 11) ReadyStrip IPG Strips, 3-6pH, 17cm, 12/pkg.; 12) ReadyStrip IPG Strips, 5-8pH, 17cm, 12/pkg.; 13) ReadyStrip IPG Strips, 7-10pH, 17cm, 12/pkg.; 14) 12%TRIS, PII Ready Gel, IPG; 15) Discovery Series PDQuest PC; 16) Warranty. The system allows 2-D analysis of proteins or peptides followed by visualization and archiving of the results and automated. Spot cutting from 2-D gel matrices. This is the only commercially available integrated system that starts with the electrophoresis procedures and ends with the ability to analyze material by mass spec or other methods. The Institute intends to purchase this equipment by other than full and open competition from Bio-Rad Life Science Group. To the best of the Governments knowledge they are the sole manufacturer and distributor of this equipment. Interested vendors may identify in writing their interest with a capability statement to the Contracting Office prior to the closing date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however, all responses received before the closing date of this announcement will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. It is anticipated that Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-00-585 will be available fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of quotations will be due ten days (10) after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is September 27, 2000.
