Description
Contractor is to produce an Administrative History for Fort Pulaski National Monument (FOPU), a unit of the National Park Service (NPS), NPS administrative histories look at the history of federal parks and the National Park Service as public programs and as a public trust. They analyze individual parks and their establishment and administration, as well as NPS programs and politics. As one of nine baseline reports identified in NPS Director's Order #28 Cultural Resource Management Guidelines, the park administrative history is an essential NPS document that, along with its historical emphasis, has significant value for supporting current and future NPS management actions. The completed administrative history will detail the overall history of FOPU, including historical events prior to NPS administration; events related to its establishment; planning and development for NPS administration; important past NPS management issues and decisions; and more recent management challenges. Primary sources for research are likely to include park, local, county, and state libraties; U.S. government archives; newspaper articles; and first-hand account of key individuals. The primary sections to be developed for the administrative history will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following subjects: -- historical background; -- preservation and development of Fort Pulaski prior to NPS control; -- planning and development of Fort Pulaski National Monument; -- interpretation and visitor services; -- resources management and protection. The study will also include photos and illustrations. Research will identify graphics for possible use in the published version of the administrative history, either by supplying prints, digital files or photocopies of images. All requests for the Request for Quotation must be writing. The fax number is (404)562-3256. No telephone requests.
