Description
Correction: This action originally publicized in the CBD electronically as Submission No. 488141 dated 8/21/2000; CITE: (W-234 SN488141)is amended by the answers listed below to the 13 questions received on this solicitation. The due date for proposals is extended to September 11, 2000. 1. Reference CLIN #0001 -- sizes of prints Smallest size is 2.25x3.25 in. Largest size is 11x14. Predominant size is 8x10. 2. Reference CLIN #0002 -- sizes of negatives Smallest size is 2.5x2.5 in. Largest size is 4x5. Predominant size is 2.5x2.5 3. Reference CLIN #0004 -- contact sheets, sizes of negatives Place both copy negatives of the same image on a single contact sheet. Existing original negatives are 2.5x2.5 in. to 4x5. Some are strips of two or three 2.5x2.5s; such an original strip is considered to be single item when one is making a contact sheet from it. 4. Reference CLIN #0005 -- sizes of prints Smallest sizes are 1.75x1.75 in. and 2.5x3.5 in. Largest sizes are 5x14.25 and 9x12. Predominant sizes are 5x7 and 8x10. 5. Reference CLIN #0006 -sizes of negatives Existing negatives are 35mm, 120mm, and 4x5 in. 6. Reference CLIN #0008 -- contact sheets, sizes of negatives Place both copy negatives of the same image on a single contact sheet. Existing negatives are 35mm, 120mm, and 4x5 in. 7. Reference CLIN #0009 -- sizes of color slides All slides are 35mm. 8. Reference CLIN #0010 -- b/w copy negatives of slides per contact sheet Place each b/w copy negative on a separate contact sheet. 9. Reference CLIN #0012 -- color copy negatives of slides per contact sheet Place each color copy negative on a separate contact sheet. 10. Reference sleeves and envelopes for copy negatives and interpositives Each copy negative and interpositive should be placed in its own sleeve and its own 4x5 paper envelope. The envelopes should be archival-quality and acid-free. 11. Reference Definition of Interpositive Interpositive: Positive image made from an original negative which is subsequently used to produce a duplicate negative or negatives. Interpositives may be contact exposed or optically projected (for enlargement or reduction). Interpositives are exposed with the emulsion side of the film facing the emulsion side of the original negative. Hence the interpositive image will be reversed left to right and will appear as a positive, not as a negative. A duplicate negative produced (contact exposed, emulsion to emulsion) from the interpositive will be reversed again left to right and will appear as a negative from which photographic prints may be produced. 12. Reference Freight Carrier Originals will be shipped to lab via Federal Express or other reliable overnight service. 13. Reference Related Experience and Past Performance We are seeking a lab that has done specialized archival preservation duplication work, preferably for other archival institutions, with particular emphasis on experience with black and white, since that is the preponderance of the work to be done for this contract.
