Description

The Bureau of Reclamation, Grand Coulee Power Office, Grand Coulee WA has a continuing requirement for Advisory Services to aid in the cleanup of lead contamination resulting from an electrical fire in the Grand Coulee Dam, Left Power Plant, 6900 volt XLS switchgear. Initial services for monitoring plant operations, and other contractor cleanup have been provided by Energy Northwest, Richland WA. This Contractor provides expertise found around hydro electric power producing equipment and hazards associated with cleanup and putting the power system back in service Services to date have provided for initial testing and cleanup. Upon issuance of the order it was not anticipated the amount would exceed the $25,000 threshold. The amount of testing required has unexpectedly driven up the cost. It is anticipated that the need for these services will be required for the next 30 to 60 days. To preserve continuity and uninterrupted service it is our intent to issue a modification to the order to continue advisory services with Energy Northwest to provide assistance until the power plant is cleaned to meet compliance with applicable regulations.
