- Description
- The U. S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument has a requirement for Fall Fungal Surveys. These surveys will be conducted within proposed timber sale units on the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Work will begin September 25, 2000 and must be completed by December 31, 2000. Surveys will be done following established written protocols. Unit numbers, survey acres, and elevations are listed in the solicitation, Attachment A. Unit boundaries are marked on the ground for all Items except Item 4. Crayon Sale Area. The total acreage for each of three surveys totals 1327 acres. The purpose of the contract will be met by following survey directions detailed in the protocols. The most current version of the protocol will be used. Survey protocols are available at the following website: http://www.or.blm.gov/surveyandmanage/. Gnat Sale Area is part of the Marble Mountain Game Management Unit (GMU) and permits are required to access this area beginning October 1, 2000 (hunting season). The GMU restricts motorized vehicle access. Contractor will not be permitted to hunt this area or transport game when access has been gained through the permit for contract purposes. Units may contain rough and steep terrain. Volcanic ash may be present throughout the project are in Gnat. Surveyors must be physically fit. Hunters, forest product harvesters and other forest users may be present in the work area during the period of the contract. Field Experience: Personnel performing field survey work shall have experience and knowledge of the following: The ability to recognize, identify and collect all of the target fungi species which pertain to the type of survey being conducted. Experience in proper collection techniques for fungi voucher specimens. Experience in recording diagnostic features of fungi species. Experience in field techniques including aerial photo, map interpretation, and ecological/floristic field observation skills. This includes the identification of vascular plant species and plant communities for the geographical area of interest. Ability to document location, ecological condition, habitat, and survey routes for areas occupied by target fungi species. This solicitation will be issued as a Commercial Items Request for Quotation in accordance with FAR Part 12. The Service Contract Act applies to this acquisition. This acquisition is 100% Set-Aside for Small Businesses. The Standard Industrial Classification that applies is 8999 with a size standard of $5.0M. Solicitation No. R6-OLY-0-25-O will be made available on or about September 7, 2000 with quotations to be received not later than 2:00 p.m. (CST) on September 18, 2000.
