Description
DESC: 4310-01-471-0100. The U.S. Government is soliciting commercial contractors for the purchase of 16 breathing-air compressors for use by engineer divers. The air compressor system is used to supply breathing air simultaneously to one or two working divers, a safety diver, and a recompression chamber. The air compressor system is used to supply breathable air to the working divers and safety diver, diving to depths of 190 feet of seawater (fsw), with an over bottom pressure of 135 pounds per square inch, gage (psig). The air compressor described is skid-mounted, air-cooled, diesel engine powered with an output of no less than 88.5 cubic feet per minute (cfm) at a pressure of no less than 200 psig. This solicitation replaces the previous solicitation DAAE20-00-T-0337 that was cancelled due to changes in the requirements. The main differences of those changes are: 1. The system pressure has been reduced to 200 psig from 300 psig; 2. The volume has been increased from 44 cfm to no less than 88.5 cfm; 3. The requirement to stack the compressors has been removed, as has the requirement that the compressors be able to be transported by external helicopter transport. The length of the frame is to be no more than 96 inches; 4. The weight of the system has been increased to 4500 pounds from 3900 pounds; 5. The pressure rating of the volume tank has been changed to no less than 230 psig from 350 psig; 6. The hand-crank start requirement has been removed. Only air start is required. FOB is Destination. The solicitation will be issued approximately three days after publication of this notice. This solicitation will be issued electronically in accordance with FAR 4.501, 5.102(a)(7) and 14.205-1(c) therefore hardcopies will not be provided. Vendors wishing an electronic copy may download it on or after the issue date by accessing the following address via the internet: http://aais.ria.army.mil/aais/SOLINFO/index.htm. CAUTION: This solicitation will be issued electronically as will any amendments thereto. Because of this, the Government is under no obligation and is in fact unable to maintain a bidders mailing list. It is therefore incumbent upon any interested parties to periodically access the above internet address in order to obtain any amendments which may be issued. Failure to obtain any said amendments and to respond to them prior to the date and time set for bid opening/receipt of proposals may render your bid or proposal nonresponsive and result in the rejection of same.
