- Description
- The DLA Support Services (DSS) intends to issue an order for all necessary labor, equipment, and materials required to provide goose hazard management at the Fort Belvoir Headquarters Complex. The Complex is approximately 806,000 square feet, with five (5) floors located on approximately 115 acres. The Complex is located at 8725 John J. Kingman Road, Fort Belvoir VA 22060. In addtion to the main building, the Complex includes three (3) guard houses, one (1) out fall structure, one (1) child developmen center, one (1) recreation pavilion and one (1) softball field. The Contractor shall prepare a protocol for non-lethal management of goose hazard management at he Complex. The management techniques to be performed by the Contractor and addressed in the protocol shall be harassment by trained border collie(s), suggestive changes in and around the pond area, and other methods used to help stabilize the goose population at the Complex. The Contractor shall develop the protocol to accommodate the Complex requirement for rapid response to observed and reported goose hazard. The protocol shall address procedures to be followed by the Contractor for surveillance for goose presence/hazards and use of trained border collie(s) for harassment, and record keeping and reporting requirements. The Contractor shall be responsible for the ownership and use of the trained border collie(s) at the Complex. The Contractor shall have at least one year experience with the use of border collies for harassment. The Contractor shall be fully trained and responsible for working and caring for the dog. The Contractor shall perform ongoing surveillance of all control actions undertaken at he Complex and record all surveillance, control and inspection activities in accordance with the procedures established in the protocol for submittal to the Government.
