Description

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) intends to negotiate a "change" in the specifications of the "Toxicological Evaluation of Iron Chelating Compounds in Animals" contract, Contract No. N01-Dk-3-2201 with SRI International. This "change" incorporates the following studies that shall be completed by December 31, 2000. 1. A 2-week toxicity study in rats. 2. A 2-week toxicity study in dogs. These two studies are required to obtain bridging pharmacokinetic data between the intravenous and subcutaneous routes in dogs, in order to utilize the information from the recently completed 28-day intravenous toxicity dog study. 3. A NaHBED mouse lymphoma assay study. See Numbered Note 22.
