- Description
- This is a SOURCE SOUGHT SYNOPSIS, not a notice of RFP issuance. No solicitation exists. NASA/MSFC is hereby soliciting information for potential sources for a pre-award design study of a channel wall nozzle for the Space Shuttle Main Engine. The period of performance for this effort is not expected to exceed eight (8) months. Interested parties must be able to substantiate qualifications and capabilities to design and fabricate channel wall nozzles for the SSME. Interested parties must be familiar with the basic requirements for providing human-rated space flight hardware. The new nozzle is expected to be reusable for up to fifty-five (55) flights and operate more efficiently than the current nozzle design. Interested parties must have demonstrated in-depth knowledge of liquid (LOx and LH) rocket engines, and must have experience in designing and building high performance rocket engine hardware. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in the CBD and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offerors' responsibility to monitor these sites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Interested parties having the required specialized capabilities to meet the above requirement should submit a capability statement of eight (8) pages or less indicating its ability to perform all aspects of the effort described herein. This shall include, at a minimum, (a) a written confirmation that the respondent has reviewed and understands the scope of work described above, (b) a general description of relevant capabilities that the company offers, and (c) at lest one customer reference from similar work that the company has successfully completed. If subcontractors or consultants are anticipated to be used, identify the areas of ouotside expertise required and provide anticipated percentage(s) of effort that would be subcontracted in each area. Responses shall also include the following: name and address of respondent; size of business; average annual revenue for past 3 years and number of employees; ownership; whether it is large, small, small disadvantaged, 8(a), HUBZone, and/or woman-owned; number of years in business; affiliate information: parent company, joint venture partners, potential teaming partners, prime contractor (if potential sub) or subcontractors (if potential prime); list of customers covering the past five years for relevant work performed, contract numbers, contract type, dollar value of each procurement; and point of contact -- address and phone number). Questions (technical, procurement-related, or other) should be directed to the points of contact listed below. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement.
