Description

The USDA, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Wildlife Services (WS), Lakewood, Colorado, intends to procure a Garman Global Position System (GPS) unit, model GNC 250XL or equivalent. Submit faxed quotations to "Purchasing Section," at (612) 370-2136. QUOTATIONS ARE DUE SEPTEMBER 15, 2000, BY 2:00 p.m. local time. Simplified procurement procedures will be used as well as commercial item acquisition regulations per FAR 12. THIS IS A COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and A WRITTEN SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED. This solicitation document incorporates provisions and clauses which are in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-19. SPECIFICATIONS: Garmen Global Position System (GPS) unit, model GNC 250XL. The GPS must interface with ELT/NAV Communication Format. The GPS unit must be 5.8 inches in length in order to fit into the instrument panel of our aircraft and clear the airframe cross members. The ELT/NAV interface unit supports ARINC 429 and RS-232 data bus formats. ARINC 429 Standard and GAMA serial bus formats are supported. The RS-232 format which is supported is limited to the following conditions: Baud Rate (fixed): 9600; Parity: None; Data Bits: 8; Stop Bits: 1. In addition the RS-232 format must have a Start of Text (STX); an "A" identifier for latitude; a "B" identified for longitude and an END of Text (ETX). The format expects returns but will not operate if there are line feeds.
