Description

The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to issue a purchase order on a sole-source basis to The Learning Station for 4 Learning Station special purpose desktop computers to be used by children at the Harold Washington Social Security Center Day Care Center, 600 West Madison Street, in Chicago, IL 60661. The Learning Center is the only know source that can provide special purpose desktop computers that are specifically built for use by young children, as well as children with special needs. The units are ruggedized to withstand pounding by children without inflicting damage on the computer components. The Learning Station units include a built-in track ball, touch screen, 5 CD changer, and a single main cord. Further information and specifications of the Learning Station computer unit may be found at the manufacturer's website -- http://www.Learning-S.com . Any responsible firm that feels it has the capability to provide similar computer units may write or submit a fax to the referenced Contracting Officer. Respondents should refer to 0992-00-033. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Requests for copies of a solicitation in response hereto will not be honored or acknowledged. The Government does not intend to pay for any information submitted in response to this publication. No cost or pricing data is required or requested. All responses from responsible sources will be fully considered. All responses must be received by this office by 4:00 p.m. (Chicago time), Friday, September 22, 2000. If no affirmative written or faxed responses are received by this date, to the effect that a comparable source exists, an order will be placed with The Learning Station for the requirement stated above.
