- R-The U. S. Dept of Commerce (DOC) International Trade Administration (ITA) SABIT Program has a requirement for two (2) interpreters for two (2) training sessions. SABIT is managing a specialized program in Environmental Technologies to train managers, scientists, engineers and consultants from Russia and the New Independent States (NIS). The sessions will be on the following: 1.Environmental Technologies for Water Quality and Wastewater Treatment: September 30, -- October 28, 2000. Environmental Technologies for Offshore Oil-Spill Clean-up: March 10 -- April 7, 2001. The Training program will consist of two (2) four-week training sessions with approximately seventeen to twenty participants each. The Department of Commerce will provide one week of orientation and training for each of the Training Sessions. Private sector companies (host Firms) will provide the remaining three-week portion of the Training Sessions. For each group, with SABIT overseeing all training and program development. The contractor shall travel with each fo the groups throughout the four week Training Sessions. Simultaneous interpreting rates will be paid for week days and escort rates on the weekends for each of the four week sessions. Travel costs, lodging and per diem will be provided outside of the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. To qualify contractor must have the following: 1. Experience serving as a simultaneous, seminar-level interpreter (English-Russian: Russian-English. 2. Experience serving as an escort interpreter English-Russian: Russian-English) for weekend activities. 3. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in Russian and English. 4. Experience and vocabulary in the following fields: Environmental Technologies, Water and Wastewater Treatment, Oil and Gas Industry. 5. Ability to understand and recognize the needs and interest of the host company and the group. The ability to facilitate communications between the two. 6. Knowledge of Russia and NIS. 7. Previous work experience with delegations of this size and programs of this duration. 8. Diplomatic, yet assertive manner. 9. Ability to translate written material Russian to English, English to Russian. 10. Willingness to work on weekends and evenings when necessary as escort interpreter.
