Description

Over the next year, there will most likely be contracts awarded to assist private landowners with the disaster recovery as a result of the fires in Montana during summer 2000. Potential projects include the following construction services: aerial seeding, ground seeding, tree planting, water diversion structures, grade stabilization structures, sediment basins, grassed waterways, filter strips, and streamline shoreling protection. Most contracts awarded will be under $100,000 and will be set-aside for emerging small businesses (average revenue less than $8.75 million over last 3 years). A few contracts may be awarded over $100,000 and, on these contracts, a 10% preference will be given to HUBZone contractors and small disadvantaged businesses. Contact your state/local Small Business Administration office to find more about these programs. For contracts under $100,000, contractors will have to provide an alternative payment protection in the amount of 50% of the quote. For contracts over $100,000, contractors will have to submit bid bonds with their bid and the successful bidder will also have to provide performance and payment bonds. Interested contractors should submit what kinds of the above jobs they would be interested in, what areas of the state they would be willing to work in, and their contact information (including email, fax, phone, names, addresses, etc.) to the Contracting Officer. These will be kept on file and contractors will be contacted when jobs they might be interested become available.
