Description
Request for Information (RFI) On behalf of the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR) Charleston seeks information concerning body worn, wireless transmitters and recording devices applicable to meeting operational needs of the state and local law enforcement community. Improved body wires and recorders was listed as a top need in a recent national survey of the law enforcement community conducted by NIJ. We are in the process of determining the extent to which current products meet the needs of state and local agencies. Future efforts include the creation of a research and development plan for technology development based on a gap analysis of the needs versus available performance. An publication resulting from this project will serve as a technology guide to those agency personnel involved in selection and acquisition of equipment. This same publication will provide a clearinghouse of information on available products and their performance parameters to the law enforcement community. Responses are requested to include pertinent company information, including contact person, phone number, and email address. A one-page (double-sided) product sheet in electronic format, MS Word or Adobe (pdf) is required for each product to be considered for inclusion. Suggested elements for this one page summary include a product description and pertinent operational and performance specifications. Submitters are advised not to include information they wish to maintain as company proprietary data as part of this product sheet. Additional product information such as cut sheets or marketing pamphlets will also be accepted along with the product sheet. Any information marked proprietary will be treated accordingly. Those products for which the one-page product description is not submitted will not be considered. Responses to this RFI should mailed to the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center, Southeast Region (NLECTC-SE), 7325 Peppermill Parkway, North Charleston SC 29418, Attn: Bill Deck. Please provide 2 copies of all hard copy material. This RFI is for planning purposes only, and should not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or solicitation of an offer. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information solicited. Email responses may be sent directly to Bill Deck at the following address: bdeck@nlectc-se.org
