Description

The project consists of design, preparation of drawings, specifications, and proposal documents for a new Kihei, HI Carrier Annex of approximately 14,000 Square Feet on a United States Postal Service owned site of approximately 93,000 Square Feet which is located in the Maui Research and Technology Park. A carrier annex consists of a large open workroom, support areas and a loading platform. This facility will not have a public lobby nor retail operations. The architect and engineers will be required to prepare design documents utilizing the Postal Service's Medium Sized Building Designs (computerized standard designs). The architect and engineers must demonstrate CADD expertise with emphasis given to experience with utilizing computerized standard designs. The contract may contain options for supervision of construction and other services during construction. Firms that have the qualifications to perform the services described above are invited to submit a completed SF 255, Architect-Engineer and Related Services Questionnaire for Specific Project; a completed SF 254, Architect-Engineer and Related Services Questionnaire; and a completed SF 254 for each of its proposed consultants to: Pacific Facilities Service Office, Attention John Fraher, Purchasing Specialist, 395 Oyster Point Blvd. Suite 225, South San Francisco, CA 94099-0300 not later than October 18, 2000. The selection will be conducted by using both the submitted SF 255 and the SF 254s. Interested firms with more than one office must indicate on their SF 255 the staffing composition of the office in which the work will be performed. Consideration will be given to the firms responding to this advertisement only if the architect is located on Maui. It is desirable for the engineers and other consultants to also be located on Maui, but it is not a requirement for consideration. However, engineers and other consultants must be located on the Hawaiian Islands. Joint Venture will only be considered if one of the firms is located on Maui and all the architectural design, coordination and management of the project will be performed from the Maui office. The architect and engineers must demonstrate experience in completing similar projects on Maui within the past 3 years. The minimum staffing requirements of the primary firm is 5 with the following minimum number of registered professions, including consultants: 2 architects, 1 civil engineer, 1, structural engineer, 1 mechanical engineer and 1 electrical engineer. Due to the small minimum staff size for the engineering firms, the committee will be very interested in how engineer and staff coverage will be handled. The contract contains a requirement for firms to provide evidence of current Errors and Omissions insurance coverage for at least $200,000 per claim. Participation of minority-owned and woman-owned businesses in U. S. Postal Service architect-engineer selections is encouraged. It is prohibited to pay any fee, commission, percentage, or brokerage fee to any person or firm contingent upon or resulting from award of a contract for these services. No other general notification for these services will be made. Submissions will not be retained or returned. Please submit your SF 254s and SF 255s by U. S.
