Description
The United States Air Force (USAF) is interested in information to support concepts that solve USAF Space Command (AFSPC) operational deficiencies in seven sub-mission areas for planning decision-making during the CY00-01 USAF Modernization Planning Process cycle. The sub-mission areas are Counterspace, Launch Operations, National Missile Defense (NMD), Space Surveillance, Global Prompt Strike, Space Based Environmental Monitoring, and Space Training, Education, and Exercise (STEDE). We are looking for information to help complete in detail mid-term (~'09-15) and far-term (~'15-'27) concepts. While we are focusing on trying to understand and better define presently baselined concepts, new concepts that solve operational deficiencies are also welcome. Concepts may include use of existing hardware and software, as well as new technologies and ideas. Non-US firms are welcome to respond. This request is for information purposes only. The government does not intend to award any contracts based on this action or to pay any costs associated with this information. Interested parties should request additional information from the individual identified at the end of this paragraph below, NLT 15 Sep 00. Responses should be submitted NLT 16 Oct 00. Upon request, specific guidance to facilitate responses will be provided by USAF in a Request For Information (RFI) package along with references made to applicable Development Plan(s) and corresponding Mission Area Plan(s) and Mission Support Plan(s). This RFI package will be available 22 Sep 00 at the Space TPIPT's Mission Solution Analysis (MSA) Kick-Off meeting held at the Aerospace Corporation, El Segundo, CA that same date. Any new concepts should conform to the concept description template provided in the RFI package. All submitted concept information and descriptions will be reviewed by Technical Planning Integrated Product Teams (TPIPT), which consist of members from USAF Materiel Command Product Centers (e.g. Space and Missiles Systems Center, Electronic Systems Center, Aeronautical Systems Center), USAF Space Command, USAF Research Laboratory, and possibly other USAF and Department of Defense agencies. Upon request we will provide additional information to interested parties in either an unclassified or a DoD Secret format. For those parties requesting the classified version, you must provide your CAGE Code and the name and phone number of the Defense Security Service (DSS) office that manages your facility. After the initial review of your inputs by the TPIPTs, additional information may be requested and/or provided either directly or through the Internet. We will only accept submissions through registered mail. Submissions must be place electronically on a 3.5 inch disk or CD, paper formats will not be accepted. Proprietary information will also be accepted and protected as required. Interested parties should request the RFI package from Marta Villa, Voice (310) 363-2247, DSN 833-2247, facsimile (310) 363-0734, or Email: Marta.Villa@losangeles.af.mil.
