Description
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Third Runway Construction Contracting Contractors' Forum The Port of Seattle invites construction contractors interested in competing for Third Runway construction contracts to attend a Contractors' Forum Oct. 18 at the Doubletree Hotel, 18740 International Blvd., SeaTac, WA, near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Sea-Tac Airport's new 8,500-foot Category III Third Runway has a total estimated construction cost of $500 million through completion in 2006. In addition to the runway and navigational aid projects, it will require extensive site preparation and environmental work including a 17-million-cubic-yard embankment, 3,000 linear feet of mechanically stabilized earth retaining wall up to 135 feet high, relocation of more than a mile of public street, and several stream and wetland mitigation projects. The purpose of the Contractors' Forum is for project and construction managers to provide local and national contractors with details on the $200 million worth of embankment contracts that begin in 2001, and information on other contracting opportunities through the length of the project. The draft specification for the 2001 embankment contract will be available at the Forum for information and comment. There also will be a presentation on Sea-Tac Airport's multi-billion dollar Capital Improvement Program that will expand and upgrade the entire airport. Contractors attending the Forum also will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the local Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) community and explore potential teaming opportunities.
