Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, John D. Dingell Medical Center intends to negotiate with Depuy, Inc., 700 Orthopedic Drive, Warsaw, IN 46581-0988, for purchase of orthopedic inset patella, inset ream blade & bits, stabilized inserts modular, tibial trays, femur and other related supples. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Solicitation number RGQ:553-108-00 has been assigned to this procurement. Solicitation documents and incorporated provision and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-13, SIC 3842. Vendor shall supply all orthopedic items. The following incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through FAC 97-18 and are applicable to this acquisition. 52.212-1, Instructions to offerors -- Commercial Items: addendum to FAR 52.212-1, Paragraph (b) (5): offerors shall provide an express warranty, which at a minimum shall be the same warranty terms, including offers of extended warranties, offered to the general public; 52.212-4, Contract Terms and Conditions -- Commercial Items; 52.212-5, Contract Terms and Conditions Required to Implement Statues or Executive Orders -- Commercial Items; 52.222-2, Convict Labor; 52.233-3, Protest After Award; 52.222-26, Equal Opportunity; 52.222-35, Affirmative Action for Special Disabled and Vietnam Era Veterans; 52.222-36, Affirmative Action for Handicapped Workers; 52.222-37, Employment Reports on Special Disabled Veterans and Veterans of Vietman Era; 52.225-3, Buy American Act Supplies; 52.225-18, European Union Sanctions for End products; 852.270-4, Commercial Advertising. Offerors must include a complete copy of the provisions at 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and Certifications -- Commercial Items, with it's offer. The proposed contract action is for orthopedic items and related items, which the governmen intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. All FAR provisions and clauses may be reviewed and/or obtained from the General Service Internet address http:/www.gov/far. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the governmne not to compete this proposed contract, based upon responses to this notice, is soley the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considere soley for the purpose of determing whether to conduct a competitive procurement. All responses must be submitted no lter than 2:00p.m. Eastern Time on September 25, 2000 to the Contracting Officer indicated above. See numbered Note 22.
