Description

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) intends to negotiate sole source procurement with Bio Rad, 200 Alfred Nobel Drive, Hercules, CA 94547 for the acquisition of Icycler with Optical Module. Specifications unique to this equipment are: 1. The thermal cycler must be capable of performing PCR on at least 96 samples per run. 2. The instrument must allow the simultaneous real time PCR tracking (detection) for at least 4 genes using different fluorophores. 3. The instrument must allow the multiplexing of at least 4 fluorophores to allow the tracking of large numbers of markers. 4. The PCR vessel used by the instrument should be amenable to automation of PCR reaction set up. EPA believes that Bio Rad is only vendor capable of satisfying requirements stated above. All interested parties who believe they can provide the required items should fully explain their capabilities in writing within 15 days of the date of this announcement. The intent of this synopsis is to determine if any sources (s) exist and, therefore, no RFP is available. Consequently, any response(s) failing to provide the aforementioned data but instead choosing to merely submit a routine letter requesting a copy of the RFP will be ignored.
