Description
Sources are sought by NASA GRC's 2nd Generation Reuseable Launch Vehicle (2nd Gen RLV) Program to make regeneratively cooled combustion chamber liners from GRCop-84 sheet. GRCop-84 is an advanced copper alloy with an attractive balance of conductivity and strength. More information on this alloy can be found at http://www.lerc.nasa.gov/WWW/MDWeb/People/MSELLIS.html GRC's goal is to produce a liner suitable for hot fire testing in an engine selected for the 2nd Gen RLV. Sources are sought in the following areas: 1. Sources to make wide, warm rolled GRCop-84 sheet. The material is to be rolled at a temperature between 400:F and 650:F. Final thickness will be between 0.010" and 0.040". Length is TBD, but should not be less than 192". Width of the finished sheet is to be at least 22" with 34" or wider being desired. Starting stock will be 8" to 12" long x 1.25" to 2" thick and cut to the appropriate width. 2. Fabrication of sub-scale and full-scale combustion chamber liners. Final size of the chamber liner is to be between 2" and 24" diameter and between 8" and 30" long. Techniques currently under consideration include metal spinning and platelet technologies, but other technologies would be considered.
