Description

The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate with Computer Associates International, Inc., 2291 Wood Oak Drive, Herndon, VA 20171 on a sole-source basis to convert two software products for which the SSA currently has a license; i.e. VISION:Results (MVS) and VISION:Excel (MVS). These software products are management information and report generation tools purchased from Sterling Software, Information Management Division, used to develop monthly samples of Supplemental Security Income records for quality assurance, study and review purposes. SSA has a need for the conversion of these existing CPU licenses into a limited MIPS-based license rated at 975 MIPS. These products will be transferred from System 71, a Hitachi 825, serial number 360056, 780 MIPS to the higher rated new System 71, a Hitachi 827, serial number to be announced, rated at 975 MIPS. The following provisions at FAR 52-212-1, Instruction to Offerors-Commercial Items (tailored) applies to this acquisition: (b)1-(b)9, (b)11, (c), and (g). There is no addendum to these provisions. Offerors are required to complete and include a copy of the provision at FAR 52.212-3, Offerors Representation and Certification-commercial items, with their pricing. The provisions at FAR Part 52.212-4, Contract Terms and Conditions-Commercial Items apply to this acquisition. Addendum to FAR 52.212-4(o) warranty: add, "the Government will accept the contractors commercial warranty." The following provisions at FAR 52.212-5, Contract Terms and Conditions Required to Implement Statutes or Executive Orders-Commercial Items apply to this acquisition: (b)(11), through (b)(15), (b)23, and (b)(24). This is neither a request for quotations nor an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Requests for copies of a solicitation in response hereto will not be honored or acknowledged. The Government does not intend to pay for information received. All responses from responsible sources will be fully considered. Faxed responses shall not be permitted. When responding to this announcement, respondents should refer to VISION Conversion. If after September 21, 2000, no viable responses have been received, SSA shall issue an award under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures to Computer Associates International, Inc.
