Description

Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Robert Morris Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, Natick, MA intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a sole source basis with Point Blank Body Armor, 4031 NE 12th Terrance, Oakland Park, FL 33334, which is an effort to provide the Government with ballistic material research intended to optimize Interceptor OTV ballistic system at lighter weight and to reduce manufacturing cost. Successful results, approved by the Government, may be transitioned to the production contract for manufacturing Interceptor personnel armor. Research will include the following investigations to meet or exceed Interceptor OTV ballistic and physical requirements at >/=10% weight reduction. A report will be provided which outlines objective, engineering approach, ballistic data /weight on material matrix evaluated, statistical evaluation, required modification of manufacturing process for implementation, and cost savings to support conclusions and recommendations. Government validation testing will be conducted prior to approving recommended changes. Point Blank was awarded the Interceptor OTV contract in 1998, DAAN02-98-D-5006. The current contract will allow transition of the successful results.
